If you fill your sock with random small, heavy items (batteries are perfect) it does +10 damage and has a +50% crit chance.

If your gonna swipe some ideas from other games, Castlevainia: Synphony of the Night is the place to start.

Shield Rod : Unlocks the hidden power of your shields.

Mournblade : Vamp(8hp per hit) blade with a cool look.

Sword of Dawn : Summons the Dawn Warriors(summons undead ranger/war/sorcerer)

Crissaegrim : Countless blades dice enemies.(basically attack speed of this sword is 0.5seconds.)

Mablung Sword : Increases Defence +32.

Rune Sword : Flying rune inscribed sword(has ranged attack = to spear)

Marsil : Powerful sword of flame, has AoE fire attack = phoenix.

Masamune : Legendary Sword, allows telleport attack(invulnerable while telleporting)
